MALAYSIAN GOVERNMENT informs about tourist tax.
Since September 1, 2017 in Malaysia is entered tourist tax.
This fee of - MYR10 Malaysian ringgit (~ 2.30 USD) per room / night will be charged to all tourists staying in Malaysia hotels.
Tourist tax is mandatory and regulated by the Ministry of Finance and the Customs Office of Malaysia.
This fixed payment RM10 will be applied to all types of rooms and will be paid by tourists upon eviction from the hotel.
Tax is exempted for tourists residing in Malaysian families, in places administered by religious institutions that are not engaged in commercial activities, as well as in rooms with less than 10 rooms.
The authorities promise that the collected funds will go to the development of the tourism industry, including the improvement of tourist facilities.
