Lufthansa Resumes Flights to Frankfurt from Almaty and Astana
Starting from March 29, 2026, Lufthansa resumed regular flights to Kazakhstan, serving both Almaty and Astana. Flights are operated from Frankfurt am Main (FRA): five times a week to Almaty (ALA) and four times a week to Astana (NQZ). The services are already operating according to schedule.
At Nursultan Nazarbayev International Airport, the resumption of Lufthansa flights also coincided with an important milestone — the 20th anniversary of cooperation between the airport and Lufthansa. Since the first flight between Frankfurt and Astana on March 25, 2006, more than 1,000 flights have been operated and over 120,000 passengers have been served. The airport noted that over the years, a long-term and reliable partnership has been established with the airline, contributing to the development of the Kazakh capital’s international air connectivity.
The flights operate in a circular routing format, allowing passengers to choose both direct flights from each city and itineraries with a stopover in Almaty or Astana. This expands convenient connection opportunities via Frankfurt to major cities across Europe and North America. During the stopover in Astana, passengers continuing their journey remain onboard the aircraft, while in Almaty, transit passengers stay within the airport’s transit zone.
Flights are operated using long-haul Airbus A340-300 aircraft featuring three travel classes: Business Class with fully flat beds, enhanced comfort Premium Economy Class, and Intercontinental Economy Class. Passengers in all classes are offered meals and beverages, an individual in-flight entertainment system with a wide selection of movies and programs (including children’s content), as well as access to FlyNet internet services.
Lufthansa is well known for its high level of service, strict safety standards, and operational reliability. At the same time, Lufthansa Group continues to place strong emphasis on corporate responsibility and sustainable development, implementing initiatives focused on safety, passenger comfort, and the advancement of modern aviation.
